East Galway AC held their annual 10km race in Moylough this afternoon in which Ray Somers put aside his recent hip troubles to place a credible second in 36.25, one minute behind Mick Fogarty of Athlone Tri Club. Tommy Joe White of Tuam AC made up the podium a further minute behind Ray.

Gearoid Rohan ran a very good sub 39 minutes but the big news of the day in Moylough was the return to competition, after a long injury absence, of our own Bernie Mulryan. It seems like she was never away as she placed 1st in her age category with a 45.56. It's great to see Bernie back running & I'm sure it won't be long before those times start tumbling again.

Elsewhere today TriSport held their annual Chonamara 10k in Carna. The results show a big number of local runners with the ever present Martin McEvilly (Vet60) placing second in 38.35.

Yesterday in the grounds of NUIG the Kingfisher Fitness Club in conjunction with NUIG Students Unions held their inaugural 8km in support of Jigsaw, a free service to support young people's mental health and well being. It was a very successful event with just shy of 400 finishers on the day. Matt Bidwell, Galway City Harriers, continued his dominance of local events with a 1st place in 26.30.
