As always there was a large club turnout for the annual Colemanstown 10k on Saturday. Known for its flat & fast course, the windy weather kept the fast times away last year but there was no such problems this time around with summer-like conditions on offer.
34 members completed the course with Jane Ann Healy (Meehan) taking the honours in the womans race in a time of 38.51 whilst Ray Somers was third man home in a time of 36.24, the fastest 10k time posted by a member this year. Owen Byrne of Galway City Harriers took the win in the mens race.
The course lived up to its fast reputation with many members posting PB times yesterday. Mark Hannon, Kieran Guiry, Martin O'Hara, Eddie Fox, Mairead O'Sullivan & Martin Hynes to name a few all improved on their 10k times out there.
There was a welcome return to racing for Tomas Ruane after a very long lay up with injury & everyone at the club was delighted to see him back on the roads, hopefully it's the first steps on the road to full recovery.
