Athenry native and Athenry AC club member until recently, Dee Grady, ran the race of her life in the Dublin City Marathon last Sunday. Dee, who now runs with Ennis Track after her relocation to County Clare, popped up on the Marathon radar as we were tracking the progress of the leading women last Sunday morning. In contention for a podium finish for the entire race, Dee crossed the finish line as the 4th Irish woman just behind the legendary Pauline Curley in a breathtaking time of 2:50. A strong race was always on the cards on the back of her 3rd place finish in the Limerick marathon last May, which she completed in 3:01. But her result in DCM was truly staggering and catapults Dee into the elite status of Irish women over this distance! All at Athenry AC are looking forward to tracking Dee's progress and wish her the very best for the bright future that lays ahead and we hope to see her training around the roads of Colemanstown and Newcastle during her weekend trips home.
