Asics Gel Kayanos

2. How many miles did you run last week?

36

3. What’s your favourite racing distance?

Marathon

4. Where’s you favourite place to train?

Connemara. I've been lucky enough to have taken part in the Connemara Marathon a few times but we have also travelled out there occasionally just to train and these few occasions really stick out in my mind. It's very hard to describe but there's just some magic out there that comes out of the mountains.

Connemara Ultra

People who take it all for granted.

Coastal Charity Challenge (Westport Half-Marathon) - My one and only win!

9. What was your worst-ever running performance?

Inter Counties Cross Country, Sligo 2005 - So bad, all I could do was laugh.

13. What was the best bit of training advice you were ever given?

Unfortunately I'm not a great one for taking advice. This is not a good thing and is probably why I'm injured so much.

14. In ten years time will you still be running?

I certainly hope so, but I try not to take a single day for granted. Any individual training run could be the last one.

15. If for some reason you were told you could never run again, how do you think you’d react?

Cry

16. Have you ever been bitten by a dog while running?

Yes. There's a bastard terrier currently living near Athenry whom I'd advise to keep his VHI up to date.

17. Have you ever had to stop for an emergency ‘Paula’ during a race?

Just the once. Sorry Dundrum.

18. Favourite post-race food?

The sweet taste of victory or humble pie, whichever is applicable on the day.

Puking all the way up the Khyber Pass in Dublin during a 10 Mile Road Race. You'd have though I would have had the sense to stop running. Unfortunately, you'd be wrong.

Eamon Coughlan
