0 - Gaelic Football injury!

3. What’s your favourite racing distance?

Half Marathon.

4. Where’s you favourite place to train?

In and around the grounds of Ashford Castle in Cong, Co.Mayo.

5. What’s your favourite race or event each year?

Connemara Marathon.

6. What annoys you most at races?

Inadequate Stewarding.

7. What race, that you haven’t yet run, would you most like to take part in?

Connemara Ultra.

8. What was your best-ever running performance?

National Half Marathon Champs Letterkenny 2006 - 1:26:17.

9. What was your worst-ever running performance?

New York Marathon 2002 - Finished in 3:48 but had splits of 1:40 and 2:08.

10. What’s the strangest thing that you’ve ever seen on a training run?

I once came accross a man lying on his back in the middle of the road out of his mind drunk. He had apparently just fallen off his bike. I had to pick him up and bring him back to the pub.

11. Favourite piece of running gear?

A plain blue training top I've had for ages.

12. Who would you most enjoy beating in a sprint for the line?

Alan Burke, he's always beating me!

13. What was the best bit of training advice you were ever given?

I've never been given any good advice.

14. In ten years time will you still be running?

Hopefully.

15. If for some reason you were told you could never run again, how do you think you’d react?

I'd think that I'd have more time for clay pigeon shooting.

16. Have you ever been bitten by a dog while running?

No.

17. Have you ever had to stop for an emergency ‘Paula’ during a race?

No.

18. Favourite post-race food?

Chocolate.

19. Most embarrassing ever running-related moment?

It looms in my future. 'Lundon' hasn't passed me in a race yet, although the 2005 Connaught Cross Country was close.

20. The greatest Irish Athlete of all time is/was?

On the back of his Olympic Marathon silver in LA in '84 it has to be John Treacy.
