1. What running shoes do you train in?

2. How many miles did you run last week?

28

3. What’s your favourite racing distance?

10 k. The Galway 5k series, I have only missed one race in the entire 5k series.

4. Where’s your favourite place to train?

Dangan. You alway meet some one there to run with and never feel the miles going by.

5. What’s your favourite event or race each year?

The Streets of Galway. It was the first race I did when I started back running and have rarely missed it since then.

6. What annoys you most at races?

Runners cutting across you to get water.

7. What race, that you haven't yet run, would you most like to take part in?

Any marathon that I’m able to run without having to walk some of the last few miles.

8. What was your best-ever running performance?

I struggled for a good few years to break 40 minutes for 10k getting as close as 40.09 a few times. In 2009 I joined Athenry AC and started Alan Burke’s track sessions and Jane-Ann tempo runs. In July 2009 the training paid off when I ran 39.32 in the Oughterard 10k.

9. What was your worst-ever running performance?

Almost not finishing DCM 2009. The only thing that saved me was James Lundon’s advice that “you only get your tee shirt when you cross the line”. I really wanted that tee shirt!

10. What's the strangest thing that you've ever seen on a training run?

Meeting a “Runner” in the Race Course, doing laps wearing ordinary clothes including jeans and ordinary shoes.

11. Favourite piece of running gear?

Find it almost impossible to run without my Garmin 305.

12. Who would you most enjoy beating in a sprint for the line?

Owen Curran has this habit of speeding pass me in races. I though I was in with a chance in the Resolution day 5k run 2011 when I heard that Owen’s warm up was jogging into the race from Athenry with Athenry AC Superwoman Val. However the dream was over by 2k when he coasted pass me again. One of these days......

13. What was the best bit of training advice you were ever given?

You have to do speed work to improve your race times.

14. In ten years time will you still be running?

Yes

15. If for some reason you were told you could never run again, how do you think you'd react?

I probably would not believe it and being stubborn would find some way to get back running.

16. Have you ever been bitten by a dog while running?

No

17. Have you ever had to stop for an emergency 'Paula' during a race?

No

18. Favourite post-race food?

Anything containing chocolate.

19. Most embarrassing ever running-related moment?

Nothing embarrassing ever happened to me running!
