Established in 1981 Frankfurt is classed as the third fastest marathon route in the world and Germany's second largest marathon. The course record for the 26.2 mile route is 2:03:42 set in 2011 by Kenyan athlete Wilson Kipsang. The course has a total elevation gain of 27.8 meters spread across the entire route 42,195 meters!

Four from Athenry AC took part in this year's event. Jane Ann Healy was the first of the group to cross the line completing the distance in 2:50:25 a marathon PB. Running his first marathon David Meehan recorded an impressive 3:00:40. Chris Deakin also securing a 4 min PB finished the race in 3:05:37. And another first timer Donal Leahy clocked another impressive time 3:21:18. Congrats all!
