brillant race
Wow waht a well organised event , puts alot of races to shame , ye have every thing from showers , friendly marshalls , a pub to provide a nice cup of tea and above all a brillant course . will be back next year .
Thanks for the brillant day out .
Great Day!
Well done to Niall & Treasa!
It was a great day and a fun race!
Roll on next time!!!!
How about a biannual Race Niall!
Superb race and organisation!!!!!
After everything was said and done on Saturday, I ran the course
as part of my last serious session before Ballycotton.
The first mile wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be, or
it felt in the car, the many times I've traversed it in both
directions.
The turn at Dunsandle was the first time I'd ever been down that
road in any form. I was sweating by the time I got out the other
side and to the three mile mark though!
The stretch from four to four and a half is as hilly as I've ever
experienced in a short road race and sucks the life out of you.
If you were hoping for a good time, those hopes could flounder on
that stretch of road.
Getting to the Gate Lodge, and thinking you were home, is a big
mistake. There was still a good stretch of road left before
finding the finish line.
I was happy enough to do 34:30 but don't think I'd have been able
to double up at the same pace that afternoon and then go off to
referee a hurling game! I declined the second loop, resorting to
the relative comfort of chasing a sliothar around the wide open
expanses of Ballymacward instead.
Many thanks to Olive Loughnane for coming out her back door to
start the race.
It's not every day you get served tea by a leader of a
once-major(!) political party either!
Well done to the organisers of this road race, the first of many
runnings of same we all earnestly hope!
P.S. Well done to Ann Carter and Fionnuala Keane on their battle
to be first first woman home; Ann getting Fionnuala in the last
downhill stretch.
