After a long wait, the AAI finally managed to get official results from the organisers of the Dublin City Marathon, and therefore could calculate overall results.

When the dust had settled on the results, Athenry AC's three scorers: Paul McNamara [2nd overall], Mick Rice and Peter Delmer emerged with 2nd place.

Well done to all, a truly fantastic result. After our bronze Team medals at the National Half Marathon Championships, there is only one left to complete the set!

The system used in calculating the results meant that Athletes could compete in both senior and Masters teams, and our Masters team, with Owen Curran replacing Paul McNamara, were good enough for 6th place. This in itself is a fantastic achievement.

Whenever the Medals make their way to Athenry, we'll be hiring an open-top bus to parade the team through the streets of Athenry.

Or maybe we'll settle for a drink in a local hostelry.

Congrats also to Tom Hunt of Mayo AC, a good friend of the Club, who was 2nd in his M55 Category.
