Further Update: Martin Nolan made his way to Athenry a few nights ago to receive his men's prize and get his picture taken with Race Director, Maria Hehir.

The Maria Hehir-inspired Athenry AC Fit4Life 5KM Charity Road Race was a huge success yesterday, 6 November 2010.

ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY toed the line for what is hoped to be an annual event.  Most were Fit4Lifers and for the majority of those it was their first ever road race.  As far as I can figure out, no one was lost, fell into the ditch or did not finish! 

The event was immaculately organised and a full result was generated within an hour of the start.  It was run over the 5KM course used by the Galway 5KM series.

There were pacers each two minutes from 24 minutes onwards and are included in the full result for completeness etc.

The winners of the two Galway Crystal-sponsored prizes were Clare Rowe (Athenry AC Fit4Life) and Martin Nolan (AIT Fit4Life). Clare was present to receive her prize while Martin was halfways back to Athlone when he learnt of his unexpected success.

A huge Thank You for all that helped out on the day including:
